I’m so thankful that one of my sisters and her husband live quite close to us. This weekend, the boys and I were able to go over and just spend some good, relaxing time with them. It’s such a blessing that these two loving, godly people are so near, and so willing to love my boys. We’re going to enjoy it as long as it lasts.
Luke played guitar with Uncle Stephen, and sang us some be-yew-tiful songs. He had his first experience with a video game, and
once he got it figured out, had a great time flying the airplane in circles.
Levi was his usually sweet, cute, drooly self, and very much enjoyed all the happenings around him.
Levi is FOUR MONTHS old today! I am so thankful for this sweet, joy-giving baby. This is pretty much his default expression. Sometimes he seems so happy it’s almost uncontainable. What a precious blessing for this mama to have a human sunshine around this winter.
He’s usually smiling, especially when he sees his daddy or big brother. How can you not smile when you see these guys? My sweet baby sleeps through the night consistently, and seems really happy with his routine, although he’s flexible when we need to him to be.
We’ve started sitting him up in the high chair with us for dinner, and he just loves interacting with us. Luke and Levi can make each other laugh just by looking at each other, so then of course Bret and I are laughing too, which makes for delightful eating.
He has discovered his feet, and likes to play with them. Everything else he gets his hands on goes straight into his mouth, which is producing copious amounts of drool.
He’s still my giant baby, and I just love the chubby cheeks and baby rolls. His stats from our doctor’s visit today are 15.6 pounds and 26.8 inches. He also gets really excited whenever he gets to not wear clothes, as evidenced by the various states of undress in these pictures. It’s hilarious how much he loves to only wear his diaper. The big guy has started goo-ing, and especially likes to talk at night. It’s fun to get some special time with him after his late feeding before we both go to sleep.
This is Daddy and his little, matching buddy. It cracks me up that Bret managed to dress Luke completely like him. They’re wearing exactly the same thing, down to the grey-soled socks. They were also having a great time together wrestling and tickling.
My sweet Levi is happy to sit with me and watch Bret and mini-Bret as they run and wrestle and tickle and laugh very loudly.
One of the best blessings of having two sons is watching them be brothers! It’s so amazing to see their little relationship developing. Luke is very sensitive to whether Levi is doing well or not, and gets worried if Levi starts fussing. Several times, Levi’s been whining and Luke will say something like, “Levi’s sad; I get my blankie.” And he gets his special blankie, carefully shares it with Levi, and lays down beside him. And, best of all, Levi stops fussing!
As I’m sure most parents do, I was concerned about how Luke would react to the addition of another child to our family. I have been so blessed to see his sweet, loving ways towards his little brother. He helps wipe off spit up, brings what I need, and loves to hug and kiss Levi. Baby Levi is quite interested in all Luke is doing, and looks for him when he hears Luke’s voice.
How good it is when brothers dwell together in unity!
Look! Two posts in one week! Nevermind that it’s the end of Saturday night…
My sweet baby is two months old! Really, he’s almost 3 months, but we just went in for his two-month checkup, so that’s what I’m going to pretend. He’s only 2 months old, right?
He’s the sweetest, happiest baby I’ve ever been around and he makes it such a joy and pleasure to be his mother! He eats well and sleeps well, and smiles at just about everything. I could gladly spend all day trying to get him to coo at me. He’s a cuddle bunny, and doesn’t really like to be left by himself while he’s awake, which is a good thing in this size apartment. He loves his bouncy seat and his little blue elephant, and almost anything can arouse his interest. Tummy time is not his favorite, but it’s getting better now that he can hold his head up higher and for longer.
One of the funniest things about Levi is his attempts to get his thumb in his mouth. He doesn’t quite have the coordination to get it straight in; so he whacks himself in the forehead and then pulls his hand down to his mouth. It’s hilarious and adorable, and makes this mama smile every time I get to see him try.
At his two month check-up, he weighed 14 lbs. and was 25 inches long! He’s wearing 6-month clothes. I just love it! He will have to get an orthotic helmet to shape his skull as he grows, but other than that he’s very healthy and happy. I’m so thankful to the Giver of all good gifts for this sweet baby. Every child is a blessing, but my Father knew that a content, smiley baby would be so welcome in this season. The Lord has done great things for me!
ETA: Turns out he doesn’t need a helmet right now; so I’m praying that his Maker will mold and form his head perfectly so that he doesn’t need it in the future.
My parents arrived from Africa this weekend, and with that blessing begins our holiday season!
Luke got to go to the airport with his aunties and uncle to pick up Mumsi and Grandaddy. He was so excited to see them (and the big airplanes).
After the airport, everyone came back to our house for chili, and much more important and fun, meeting Levi!
I think Levi and Grandaddy might look a bit alike… Levi’s middle name is David, after my dad, and I’m so thankful that my sons have such godly men to love and learn from.
Levi and Mumsi got acquainted.
We had such a good time together, and this is just the beginning!
Here are some pictures of a few of the things I made for Levi, actually being modeled by his cute little self. I love getting to cuddle him up in little gifts made with love just for him.
I don’t think I blogged about these booties. I made them right before Levi was born, with yarn left over from some ribbed socks I made for myself about a year ago. They were super quick and fun to knit, and look cu-ute, but they don’t stay on very well. I keep trying them on him to see if they’ll fit better, but they always fall off.
Here’s the baby cable hat! And here’s the hexagon blankie! I love both of these, and look forward to using them more as it continues to get colder.
He’s such a sweet, content baby and is bringing such happiness and enjoyment to our family. I’m so thankful for him.
